Then I remembered the installation method for Windows 7 and installed the same driver additionally in Vista compatibility mode. A new item in Windows Control Panel also pulled up the familiar Wacom applet. I logged my hours and have so far spent 3 full working days getting this piece of junk going again. For Windows7 64bit instead of W choose Vista.

Most modern computers lack a com port, but have a legacy header on the motherboard that can be used to give it one. Can somebody please advice? kd-0608-r
Maybe not everybody likes it, but I have all the extra features, such as Flicks, etc. After a reboot the device stopped working. First, when I unzip the I was about to throw it away!
Windows7 and Intuos Wacom serial tablet – no driver support?
It worked like a charm for me! Was working on virtual machines, ubuntu and windows 8. I was able to make it run on Vista with this informations and now I’m looking if that works for Windows 7 also.

Though I am having the problem that I can’t actually edit the tablet properties for some reason. So I started regedit. Neither did a Serial-to-USB cable. For me it was COM3. Original Wacom GD-0912-R on Windows 7 x64
I first tried with a ud-0068-r of Windows XP installed on Windows Virtual PC the windows 7 thing and even though I managed to make my tablet work, it was too slow to be useful.
Shut down the computer and connect the tablet to the serial port and plugged in tablet power supply. This was so simple.
Here is the stream lined version of what I did. I used to use this all the time for rotoscoping, 3D animation, retouching, painting in Painter X and even using Cubase!
